Performs entry-level to routine cashier, clerical, bookkeeping, and merchandising duties in accordance with assigned department. Work involves compiling and tabulating data, checking documents for accuracy, transporting documents, and maintaining files. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

1. Reviews correspondence, purchase orders, summaries, manuals, vouchers, records, and actions such as filing and data entry.
2. Files and maintains supplies, forms, records, and reports.
3. Balance cash register at the start and finish of each shift; open and close the facility according to established policies and procedures.
4. Perform weekly, monthly, and annual inventory for audit; inspect merchandise; price items and display merchandise effectively.
5. Assist with greeting, purchasing items and making suggestions to customers while providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

f. May arrange the scheduling, transfer, and display of surplus property; and may assist in conducting physical inventory.

g. Performs related work and reports as assigned.

2. Applicant must take and pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the City's expense.
3. Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
4. Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.

High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency.

Community college, vocational business, technical, or correspondence school certificates are likely sources.

1. Requires a working knowledge of general cashiering procedures, office procedures and policies, as well as general office equipment and computers.

Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment.

While performing the duties of this class, the incumbent is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; and interact with the public.
